Hugo Pacheco is a financial inclusion and last-mile distribution strategist with more than 18 years of experience working across Africa, supporting banks, fintechs, mobile money providers and financial institutions to design, optimise and scale agent and alternative distribution networks. Through The Barefoot Economist, he combines field experience with practical frameworks and technology tools to help organisations understand the economics, incentives, liquidity and operational constraints that determine whether last-mile distribution models actually work. His experience spans more than nine African markets, including work with organisations such as M-Pesa, Airtel Money, Ecobank, Advans, NIBSS and Mama Money.
