Craig Pitchers is a lifelong logistics professional — as he puts it, quite literally in his blood. His career began straight out of school with two years in D-Log, the South African Defence Force's logistics arm, managing the demobilisation of border units in what was then South West Africa: everything from personal letters to foot-lockers, moved from the Angolan border to a consolidation facility in Brits for redistribution, repurposing or decommissioning. Nearly three decades in the private sector followed, spanning operational leadership and strategic growth across the logistics and courier industry, including Divisional Director of Operations at UTi/DSV and Chief Executive Officer of Dawn Wing / DPD South Africa. Today he is Chief Executive Officer of The Courier Guy South Africa, the country's private-equity-backed and largest last-mile logistics company, operating across four channels: Courier, Kiosk, Points and Lockers. Domestic courier has been reshaped by e-commerce, consumer-to-consumer shipping and the expectation of near-instant delivery, and Craig's focus is on building a network that meets it — expanding coverage, sharpening cost-to-serve economics, and driving first-world innovation in out-of-home delivery through parcel lockers, pickup points and smart last-mile solutions. His view is that knowledge in this industry is only as valuable as its ability to remain relevant. The goal is not to keep up with the changing landscape, but to define it.
