Banu Ortaç is the Founder and Director of Onuss Technology and the creator of Rotamen and Lucy AI, a living Operational Intelligence framework designed to learn how complex field operations make decisions and continuously improve them. Since founding Onuss Technology in 2002, she has spent more than two decades analyzing real-world operational decision-making — with the understanding that mathematical optimization alone is not enough in the field. Human heuristics, changing priorities, uncertainty and operational experience all influence what actually works. This vision shaped Rotamen as a sector-independent platform spanning Last-Mile Delivery, Linehaul, Route-to-Market, Territory & Beat Planning, banking field teams, workforce management and macro-to-micro field operations. At its intelligence layer is Lucy AI, now 10 years into its evolution. Banu and her team are developing Lucy as a living decision intelligence framework combining AI/ML, optimization, heuristics, Reinforcement Learning, Transfer Learning, operational memory and specialized agents interacting across Rotamen's modules. The objective is to learn not only what planners decide, but why: why an order is left behind, whether waiting one day could create a better consolidated load, which work order should be assigned to which team, or which operational patterns may predict a repeat intervention or failure. The same framework is now being extended into energy operations, including fault response, maintenance and meter-reading, with the longer-term vision of predictive and preventive maintenance and Operational Digital Twins. By evolving Rotamen as a SaaS platform, Banu aims to bring different industries and operational problems into a shared learning ecosystem — transforming years of field experience into transferable, measurable and continuously evolving operational intelligence. Today, she continues to lead Rotamen and Lucy's product and AI/ML vision with her team, with the goal of positioning Lucy globally as an Operational & Decision Intelligence platform through strategic technology and industry partnerships — an intelligence that does not simply optimize operations, but learns how and why they work.
