Cutting first-mile collection costs and emissions

Cyric will showcase its latest innovation, OPTeBOX, at the expo. Combining IoT sensors, real-time data analytics and intelligent route optimization, the system enables postal operators to collect mail only from boxes that require servicing, reducing unnecessary stops and mileage.
In a pilot deployment with Cyprus Post, devices were installed across Nicosia’s postal network. The results demonstrated a 44% reduction in operational costs, cutting over 9,000km of driving distance and saving 38% of CO2 emissions in just six months. By dynamically merging routes and adjusting daily schedules, OPTeBOX not only reduced expenses but also enhanced service efficiency and sustainability.
This innovation forms part of Cyric IoT’s broader smart logistics portfolio, which includes real-time shipment tracking, geo-fencing and security sensors, satellite IoT connectivity for remote areas, and environmental monitoring solutions to protect sensitive goods during transit. Together, these technologies deliver a fully connected, data-driven logistics ecosystem that supports reliable universal service while reducing environmental impact.
